Michael holds a position with the State of South Carolina Emergency Management Division. He is working as an Emergency Preparedness Coordinator under Response Operations. Response Operations is responsible for the development, coordination, and maintenance of plans for natural and technological hazards, state emergency operations, state radiological operations, and the training of emergency planners and response personnel at the state and local levels. As a direct result of his experience at Scalia Lab and meteorological background, he is also responsible for preparedness and response coordination in an eight-county area in the northeast quadrant of the state, including Myrtle Beach.
