Tuesday, March 29th, 2011

Hello everyone,

Welcome to the spring quarter of 2011. Tuesday March 29th, 2011 was our first full chapter meeting of the quarter.

We will be having a meet every week until the date of the symposium. This will be due to the fact that we need to make sure everything is running smoothly, and everything is getting accomplished that needs to be done.

First order of business will be OUCAMS Apparel. Those who ordered apparel need to get the money into Elise or Michele by the end of the day tonight. We want to get them ordered before the prices are raised this weekend. If you don't want something that you signed up to get, try to find someone that will take the order instead of just taking it away. Along with the shirts, if you want your name to be on the shirts, you need to get your chapter dues (if you haven’t already done it,) into Alex Wovrosh by the end of the day tonight.

Nominations for Officers next year
IF you would like to nominate someone for a position of an officer for next year, please send those nominations to Dr. Fogt at fogtr@ohio.edu by Tuesday April 5th at 9:00AM.
The subject of the email should be OUCAMS nomination with the body of the email containing
Name
Position you nominate them for
Your name
Someone can be nominated for more than on position

During the meeting we revised the constitution for;
Secretary
Treasurer
Events Coordinator
Term of Office

StormReady
The weather radios are in, and we will begin distributing the radios out next week. There will be a meeting this Sunday at 7:00PM for radio training. You will learn how to use the weather radio and how to teach someone else how to use it. If you would like to help hand out the radios and train the people within the building, contact Alex Steinkamp (as280607@ohio.edu) or Kyle Clem.

Symposium
IF you have not done so yet, please RSVP to Elise if you would like a nametag for the symposium. If you do not RSVP you will not receive a nametag with your name on it. Ryan Langen will send out information about the Networking Dinner soon.

The meeting next week will consist of all symposium information.

Everyone have a great first week back.

Alex Steinkamp (Secretary)

Tuesday, March 1st, 2011

Hello Everyone,

Here are the minutes for the last full chapter meeting of winter quarter held on March 1st, 2011.

Alex Wovrosh gave us a treasurer’s report, with a balance of 1310 dollars. We made a $210 profit off of the doughnut sale. Congrats everyone! And thank you to everyone who participated with the fundraiser. For everyone that went to Pittsburgh this past weekend thank you for all the volunteering and helping with StormFest! It was a great time and everyone had a lot of fun. Cal U is still possibly talking about taking over Columbus, so if they do we will be a huge part in that so look forward to that.

Events
Next Friday, March 11th will be Twister Night at Kyle Clem’s apartment. The night will be filled with the movie Twister and also the game Twister. We will also be painting the wall at the Corner of Mulberry and Ridgeland. We voted that AMS funds would pay for the painting supplies for the wall. This was passed. Ryan has also asked for people to bring some food supplies if you would like. Chips, cookies, soda, or whatever you think people would like.

Directions
If you are coming from Baker, turn left onto Union from Court, His Apartment will be on the right side of the street. His address is 14a West Union, above the Campus Sundry. There will be a stairwell that you need to go up to get to it. If you have any questions please contact Kyle.

For the people that are going on the West Virginia trip in the spring, you need to have your deposit due to Ryan ($40.00) by March 11th, the same day as Twister night. If you have any questions please contact him. With a little help from the geography department and Dr. Sack, Ryan Langen and a few others are trying to start a Geography Club. Since GTU is for the select few, the Geography Club would be for anyone who is interested in anything that involves geography. Talk to him if you would like to help start the club.

OUCAMS apparel
We need to have opinions by the end of this week for different designs for he apparel. We ask you to reread the email that Elise sent out about the prices to make sure you are okay with the prices. We wont know the exact prices until we know the exact amount that we are ordering. So let us know by the end of the week if you can.

Our Symposium
We received some gifts from the ONCA as well as SAC funding for our symposium!
Our lineup for the symposium this far will be:
OU Alumnus: Jim Maczko (WCM Louisville, KY)
NWS RLX: Mark Pellerito, Tom Mazza, Chris Leonardi
Cleveland TE Meteorologist: Mark Johnson
Someone from Ohio Emergency Management (don’t know exactly who yet)
Remote presentation by Nashville, TN TV Meteorologist Dan Thomas
The hospitality group has decided on a menu for the dinner after the symposium as well.

StormReady
Dr. Fogt and myself chose the weather radios last week, and Nicole has sent the recommendation to Jill Harris. She will be ordering them soon and The StormReady Committee will be putting together a guide to the radios for the places that they need to be placed.

Elections
Elections for officers will be held next quarter. Start thinking about what you could do for the chapter and run! The nominations will be held during week 2 with the elections being held on the 4th week of classes. The transition between the current officers and the new officers will begin the following week, week 5.

Here are the minutes for the chapter meeting held on February 15, 2011

Treasurers Report
When last check, the account had 1081 dollars. There was $40 more that was put into the account due to chapter dues. So there is roughly $1121 now in the account.

New Business

OU-CAMS Apparel
We are trying to order some new OU-CAMS apparel. As of right now we are trying to get the number of polos, sweatpants, and t-shirts that everyone would want. The polo would be more for outreach and community service type of thing. The polo could also be worn for different conferences such as AMS. The color of the polo right now will be navy blue shirt with white writing. The shirt will hold the AMS logo on it and OU-CAMS. The sweatshirts will be black with forest green writing and the AMS logo on the side. The t-shirt will be forest green with the AMS logo on the front, chapter and the members of the chapter on the back along with their years. The designs are not set in stone and neither are the colors. If you have any design ideas, or color ideas let Elise and Michele know. They will be sending an email around showing the current design of the apparel, so look for that email.

Old Business

StormFest
Emily has informed us that there might be a possible meeting for the people that are traveling to Pittsburgh next weekend. If there is a meeting, it will be to iron out the details of who is riding with who, and what to wear while we are helping on Saturday. Also look for an email from Emily to iron out this details as well. If you have any questions please email her.

Fundraising
The week has finally come of the doughnut sale! We will be ordering the doughnuts tomorrow, Wednesday, around 11AM. Alex Wovrosh collected the presale orders, along with the money, at the meeting tonight. If you were not in attendance at the meeting, or you have more sales, please get the orders to either him or Cora by 11AM tomorrow morning. We will be receiving the doughnut Thursday night, and they will be in Scalia on Friday morning. An email will be sent out Thursday to everyone that ordered to remind them of the doughnut deliver the next day. The teams that you were assigned to get presale orders from are the same teams that will distribute them to the same places they went too. Once they are in Scalia, it is your job to make sure that the people who ordered them get them between 9AM and 11AM Friday morning unless arranged otherwise. We will also have a table outside of Baker on Friday between 10AM and 4PM. Make sure you show up for your shift that you signed up for. Remember not to leave the table until the next shift has arrived. The things needed for the sale will be there at 10AM, and the money needs to go directly to Alex Wovrosh at the end of the sale at 4PM. For Shift times look at the bottom of the email. We still need someone to help Michael out at 11AM. So please let someone know if you can do it.

Spring Trip
Ryan will be holding a mandatory meeting nest Tuesday, February 22nd at 5PM for anyone interested in going on the Spring Trip to West Virginia. The meeting will talk about the itinerary for the trip as well as the meal plan for the weekend. You will need to attend the meeting if you plan on going. The deadline for the security deposit will be March 11th, and looks to be about $40 for the deposit. Ryan is still waiting to pick a house to figure how many people will be going on the trip.

March 11th will also be Twister Night. A night full of the movie twister, and painting the "wall." If anyone would like to host this event let us know.

Symposium
The dinner for the symposium is a great way to network with the speakers after the talks. Ryan has looked into the dinning situation for this year. He may have found a place that we can have a room to ourselves. The food ticket would be about 10-12 dollars apiece, and will cover the cost of your food. There might be a little gratuity added onto that price. The room is able to hold about 40 people. With all the officers, speakers, and faculty attending the dinner, which leaves about 19 available tickets that can be purchased. Graduate students will have first dibs on the tickets, followed by the seniors and juniors, then finally the sophomores and freshman. We are also still waiting to hear back from SAC to see if we will receive any funding from them

Alex Steinkamp (Secretary)

Tuesday, February 1st, 2011

Hello everyone,

Here are the minutes for the meeting held on 2/1/2011

During the meeting we talked about the symposium progress that has been made. Alex and Nicole attended the SAC funding meeting to try and receive some money for food and lodging for guest speakers that would need to come in from further out of town. The meeting went well we were told.

Ryan informed us that we are going to have a movie night with the movie Twister being played. We will have the opportunity to see how bad the actual meteorology of the movie really is. There will be snacks and possibly a game of twister played. We were also talking about painting a mural on the wall behind Bentley that same night.

The spring quarter trip looks to be the first weekend back for spring quarter. There are about 25 people that have an interest in going on the trip. The trip would be to West Virginia and about a 4 hour drive. The price is looking to be about 55 per person for lodging and about 20 for food. That is for 3 nights if it would be for 2 nights it would be a little less.

StormFest
February 26th some of our members will be traveling to Pittsburgh to help the Cal U chapter host an all day event. There is talk about trying to expand to Columbus, and we would be a major player in this expansion.

The Valpo symposium will be held on March 26th from 10AM to 7PM. There is a $50 registration fee if you would like to attend.

Make sure you fill out your SCEP form!! They are accepting applications now! The deadline will be fast approaching.

February 18th will be are doughnut sale! Contact Cora if you need any information.

Alex Steinkamp (Secretary)

Thursday, January 6th, 2011

Hello everyone!

Welcome back for the winter quarter. I hope everyone had a great break and ready to start working hard once again.

The first AMS chapter meeting was held on Tuesday. For the people who were not able to come, the meeting was very short and the topics that were covered were very brief.

The first order of business is the Treasurer’s report. Alex Wovrosh has informed us that we are only 4 dollars short of $1000. This is the most we have had in a long time. So expect to see more fundraising events to keep the amount rising.

This leads into the first topic, which are the calendars. We are going to sell them for $8 a piece. We are going to contact Kroger and Walmart to see if you we can set up a table. If you would like to help sell them at the tables, or you know of people that would like some let me know.

We have heard back from a couple of the symposium speakers. A few of them are definitely coming to speak, and a few of them are still up in the air. More information will come later about the symposium. We will also be forming the symposium committees at the next meeting. The committees that we will be forming include: Advertising, Logistics, Sponsorship, and Hospitality. If you would like to be a part of any of these committees sign up at the next meeting.

We will also be starting the constitution reviews at the next meeting. We did not want to bore anyone with the task of voting on revisions the first meeting back. So expect to start voting once again next meeting.

For those who don’t know, some of us are going to Seattle Washington in 2 weeks to attend the annual AMS meeting. We need to get a chapter poster together to present while the group is there. We want to present ourselves as a chapter that will go far and for that reason we need to have a great poster. Kyle Clem is in charge of making the poster. If you want to help the chapter try for the best chapter poster award let Kyle know. We have to get the poster done as soon as possible.

We are going to send recruitment letters to everyone’s former high school. We had all the members who were in attendance write down their high schools so that we can send flyers about the meteorology program at OU. Getting information about our program to high schools well let people know that OSU is not the only school in the state with a meteorology program. We also want to let people know who is the better school for meteorology. If you did not attend the meeting on Tuesday but would like to send flyers to your high school, send me an email with your name and high school and we will make sure they get sent.

We are currently in the middle of Internship and Scholarship season. The deadlines for these are coming up quickly and we want to have as many people to receive as much as positions as possible. There is a list of these on the AMS bulletin board next to the Geography office. The list will also be sent out in the listserv.

The new weather tower is now functional! The weather tower is recording observations and will be displayed on the new website that is coming very shortly. We are also working on getting the observations sent to the NWS.

The AMS dues will be collected at the next meeting. The dues are $5 a person. So remember to bring 5 dollars!

We will be having a meeting next week at 5 for the people who are going to Seattle as well as the officers and chairs.

I hope everyone had a great first week back. Have a great weekend.

Alex Steinkamp (Secretary)

Saturday, November 13th, 2010

Hello Everyone,

This was the last meeting for this fall quarter. This was a very successful quarter for everyone involved with the chapter.

For those who missed the last meeting you missed an excellent talk about the effects of the 8.2ka event on the ITCZ in the Tropical Atlantic. We also continued to make changes to the constitutions and bylaws. We will do more changes when we come back from winter break.

We will also be holding the doughnut sale next quarter, as well as the calender sale. Those who are going to the AMS conference need to volunteer to help with these fundraisers.

There are still a few sweatshirts and shirts left for anyone who would like to buy them. The quicker these are gone the sooner we can have new apparel. Our new apparel will have the AMS student logo on them since we are an official AMS student chapter.

November 19th there will be a movie night after 9:00PM. Contact Ryan Langen for information on rides to the movies theaters. Most people will be going to see the new Harry Potter Movie but a few others will be seeing other movies. This will be a good break from the stress of finals.

We are going to start a happy can. This will can will take comments towards other people within the chapter to tell them what a great job they did. This could be anything from helping someone study, to winning second place in the homecoming parade. Lets keep everything G rated please!

We have also started a microwave donation jar that will also double as a preposition jar. If you end a sentence with a preposition within Scalia, you will have to put a quarter in the jar.

Anyone who is going to Seattle for the AMS conference must see Fogt about registration before the end of the quarter.

Thank you everyone for such a great quarter, good luck on your finals, and have a good winter break!

Alex Steinkamp (Secretary)

Friday, November 5th, 2010

Hello everyone,

For everyone that wasn't at the last meeting here is what was talked about.

We started to change the Constitution and Bylaws by voting on the changes that some of the members have already made. We will continue to change them next week at the meeting. The official of the chapter will be Ohio University Chapter of the American Meteorological Society (OUCAMS).

Fundraising
Cora and Alex Wovrosh have thought up some ideas on fundraising activities for the end of this quarter and the beginning of next quarter. Selling donuts to the different departments, as well as selling them at baker is a possibility. If you would like to help them tackle some of the work make sure you get a hold of one of them. We aren't sure if we will be doing this, this quarter or next quarter. If you have any feedback on which you would rather do, please respond back.

Another idea that has come up is making a calender of weather pictures that are provided from the people outside the school and the community. We are still working on the details to see how we can accomplish this but more information is on the way.

There is a private sector mentorship that you can be apart of that gets you in contact with someone that works in the private sector. They will give you readings and help you through school with information that may help you after you leave OU. You may apply at any time, since there is no due date. This is a great way to network and meet people who are doing work that you could be doing after school.

Mr. Langen has informed us that there will be a movie night on November 19th for anyone that would like to attend. Most people are going to see Harry Potter, but if that isn't your kind of movie you can still go and some other people will be going to see different movies.

Until next meeting,

Alex Steinkamp (Secretary)

Wednesday, October 13th, 2010

Hey everyone,

For everyone that didn't attend the meeting yesterday you missed some very nice presentations from our very own Nicole Grams about the use of GIS to verify the SLOSH models associated with storm serge, as well as Kyle Clem's presentation on Broadcast Meteorology.

There is a lot to cover in these minutes so bare with me.

Homecoming The first order of business is Homecoming. You should have received an email from Ryan Langen about the details about the parade on Saturday. If you did not receive this email let me know and I will be more then willing to forward it to you. The parade starts at 10 o'clock on Saturday, but the people who are walking must be there at 8:15 AM in the morning! The parade will start at Morris Ave. and head up Court Street, pass Baker Center, then finally heading down to Clippinger. If you would like to bring extra candy, you are more than welcome to. There will be a lot of candy passed out so the more we have the better. If you need more details on homecoming, see Ryan's email or contact Ryan at rl317008@ohio.edu

AMS Student Assistantship Applications The AMS student assistantship is a program that the AMS offers for students to go to the conference in the winter. This pays for the registration fees, hotel fees, and a little part of food. THIS DOES NOT PAY FOR TRAVEL HOWEVER! The application is due this Friday, and the more people we have try for the position, the more chances we have of getting some people to get the spot. If we have people obtain this spot then we are able to take more people. If you have any questions, ask an officer or Dr. Fogt about it and they will be able to tell you what you need to know.

StormReady Dr. Fogt had a meeting with Jill Harris last Friday, which went very well. Fogt said that they are willing to do whatever it takes to get the campus StormReady. This is amazing news since last year people were laughing at us about trying to get us StormReady. Lets make it happen! Cody Jones, Shaun Lynch, and I are working on getting everything we need.

Relief Efforts Nicole took the donations that we obtained for the tornado relief to the Red Cross. They were extremely happy with everything that we brought to them that they want us to keep them coming. They really appreciated everything we have done to help them. So lets keep those donations coming!

Events We have a couple of events coming up very soon.

- Homecoming parade this Saturday at 10
- Fall Jamboree
October 22nd, Nicole is having a get together at her place. We will have a bunch of different activities that will take place as well as food!
- Pick up football game
We are trying to organize a pick up football game before it gets to cold outside.

Next meeting we will have 2 more speakers talk about their experience that had over the summer so look forward to that in 2 weeks. We will also be going over the new constitution and bylaws at the next meeting.

That about wraps up these minutes. See you all next meeting!

Alex Steinkamp (Secretary)

Hello everyone.

I'm sorry that the minutes are going out so late from the last meeting. There has been a lot that has taken place in the last week. As you all know because you are such good meteorologists, the storms that went through on Thursday did a good amount of damage to the surrounding area. A couple of teams went out yesterday with the Charleston NWS to survey the damage. Nicole has informed me that we are now on the list for the Red Cross if they need any help. Watch the Scalia website for more information on the storms that went through and the official storm reports that Charleston is putting out.

Okay. Now on to the business that was covered at the meeting Tuesday. Hello!! I am your secretary for this year. Expect to get the minutes after every meeting we have. It wont be this late again.

First order of business is the cookout located within the "ice castle". This is located at Nicole's apartment within the summit. The officers are providing the food, so you don't have to worry about bringing anything. If you have extra meals that you would like to use and bring something, you are more then welcome to do that. For those who need a ride, since it is located across the river on Richland, we are congregating in Scalia at 3.45. We are leaving at 5 till 4 so please don't be late!

At every meeting we are going to be having a secretary and a treasurer report. A secretary's report will be making the minutes official by making sure that everything in the minutes is the correct information. A treasurer's report will be telling us about our financial status.

Our goals for this year are actually quite simple. We want to have the chapter grow in size. Get more people to become involved with the chapter. We want people to get involved. That is what we do as a chapter of the AMS. We get involved with the surrounding committee and extend outreach to the people of this community. Whether that be students or the community that lives here. A good starting point is helping with the damage with the storms that our very own community with stained. Going along with that, another goal is to have more outreach within our chapter. We have a chair for outreach that will do just an amazing job with that. We also want to obtain the seal of StormReady for our school. Thursday was a great example of how the university was not prepared for anything like this to happen to us. Most people don't believe that a tornado can hit Athens with all the hills around. They were just proven wrong Thursday. This is why we need to get this campus StormReady.

We have created different kinds of committees this year. There are a couple different ones that you may join to help the chair accomplish their goals. We will have descriptions of each committee at the next meeting. Think of things you would like to get involved with. We will go over this next meeting. We have standing committees, which are an all year committee. We also have symposium committees that help run the symposium smoothly. The standing committees are; volunteer/outreach, and fundraising. The symposium committees are; advertising, logistics, and sponsorship. Start thinking if you would like to join any of these committees.

If you are a junior or sophomore that would like to adopt the new program that Dr. Fogt has created, please contact Dr. Fogt and he will give you the details on the new program.

WX Challenge!! It is that time of the year again when the WX challenge is about to kick off. This is a forecasting competition that involves everyone around the country that are studying meteorology. It involves anywhere from freshman to graduate students and even faculty. You don't need any forecasting experience at all. You can ask an upperclassmen to help you with forecasting. If you want to participate, please sign up and give Dr. Fogt 5 dollars to join by the 24th!!!

We are starting something new this year called peer mentoring. This is something to help the incoming freshman and even the sophomores to keep on track. A mentor will make sure your doing alright in your classes and kind of push you a little bit to do your best. They can also help you with picking classes for the next quarter. Use them to your advantage. The upperclassmen are full of knowledge. Make sure you get some of that information out of them. For the upperclassmen that want to be a mentor we need your bios by Sunday. These bios are for the freshman and sophomores to look at and be able to pick their own mentor based on likes with the meteorology major, or even just activities. The should include your information and also a picture so they know who you are

We are going to try and enter a banner or float into the homecoming parade this year. If you would like to help and join the homecoming committee email us to let us know and we will send you to who you need to go to. This is a chance to publicize Scalia.

Our next meeting on Tuesday Septemeber 28th will have 2 presentations by our very own president and vice-president. Our president Nicole will be talking to us about the SLOSH Model Verification: A GIS-Based Approach, and our vice-president will be presenting on Broadcast Strategy and Career.

We are also signing up for a broomball, or volleyball team. If you are interested in playing please email me to let me know.

The only thing I have left to say is...

OS- Who?? OU!

Hope to see everyone at the cookout today!

Hello everyone,

I am sending out an e-mail to everyone from the new AMS e-mail. If there is any e-mail that will be sent out regarding the chapter it will now be sent through this account. This will make it a lot more organized for our officers, and will help us to do a lot more with the chapter this year. There is a few things I want to mention, while I have you reading, for this coming school year. The first thing is the involvement fair. I know we keep bringing this up but this is a good way to get the new freshman informed about our chapter. This will help with spreading our chapter and getting more and more people involved. We would like to keep expanding our chapter and this is a great way to do it. Come out and join the officers if you would like to. The officers will be there the whole time.

The next thing I want to cover is the Wx Challenge this year. The Wx Challenge, for those who don't know, is a forecasting challenge that you forecast for a different city every week. It is very good practice for forecasting. The entrance fee for the whole year is 5 dollars. You get to forecast for 5 cities in the fall, then 5 cities in the spring that are 2 weeks each. There is usually a sixth week after the whole thing is over that is a tournament. You don't need to be in a forecasting class, or even have taken a forecasting class to participate. If you want help on how to forecast ask any officer or upperclassman and they will be gladly to show you some secrets and tips on how to do it. We want to get a list of people who want to participate early this year so that way we don't miss a week like we did last year. If you would like to do it let me know right away!!!

Moving on to the next subject. The new AMS website is hopefully going to be online within the next day if not today. So look for that when it goes live.

Next.. Meeting times for our chapter for the fall. We need to know when everyone is available to come to the meetings. There is an easy way to do that. Follow the link that will be after this paragraph and just post when times will work for you. We want to try and get a time that works for everyone. So if you don't put your times in then we wont know when your available.

The welcome back cookout at Nicole's house.. We don't know the exact time or day for that matter when this will take place. If you would like to bring something e-mail me so we know who is bringing what and we don't get something someone else is already bringing. This is also a great chance to meet the new grad students that are coming in this year. I have met 2 personally and I will have to say that there pretty cool. So come out and meet them yourself. For those who are taking 304 and 305 next year you probably want to come out and meet your new teacher. He is from Oklahoma so he knows a little bit about meteorology. Strike up a conversation with any of the grad students. Ask them what they are doing. Some are doing research with Dr. Fogt, and some will be teaching and T.A.s.

Pictures!! If you have pictures from any chapter event, give them to any officer and they will give them to me to put onto the website.

Expect an e-mail within the next week with more information about the upcoming activities with the new school year. Everyone have a safe trip back to Athens and we will see everyone very shortly! Lets make this an amazing year!

Hey everyone!

PLEASE READ THIS IF YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CHAPTER THIS FALL. If you wish to be removed from this contact list, please let me know.

I hope that all of your summers have been exciting, safe, relaxing, and fun! I am personally very excited to return to Athens and see all of you again :) Scalia Lab, it has been too long!

First, soon you will start receiving all AMS Chapter-related messages from a google email account. We have created this to facilitate easier communication between officers and the chapter, and help us to look as professional as possible. Please be aware of this change and don't delete what may be an important e-mail!

Second, I would like to choose a full chapter meeting time for Fall quarter. Our meetings will be once every other week (twice a month) because we will be having committee meetings and plenty of fun events to keep us united as a chapter during the "in-between" weeks. Mr. Langen is already on top of this; get excited!

The following link provides access to an online poll that will allow you to choose days and times that you are available for chapter meetings. Please look at your class schedule and other scheduled activities and complete the poll if you wish to be involved with the chapter this coming Fall! The day and time that receives the most votes will be our regular Full Chapter meeting time for the quarter (ignore the dates in the poll and please make your selections based on EVERY Monday, Tuesday, etc during the quarter). I will make sure to choose the option that incorporates the most members, so please, share your voice by THE FIRST DAY OF CLASSES! http://www.doodle.com/riyyr7f3henaya8z

Finally, please be on the lookout for updates to our Blackboard student activity page and many new changes to scalialab.com, as well as our first-ever AMS Chapter website! Webmaster Steinkamp has made tremendous progress on the latter two, and I will be working on the Blackboard site in the coming week. All of these tools will help us achieve maximum organization and communication and make sure we work effectively as a chapter :)

My sincerest apologies for lacking in communication prior to this e-mail. I assure you that my arrival back in O-H-I-O allows my utmost dedication to our group. Thank you for your participation and I sincerely look forward to all that we will accomplish in the coming year!

Hello everyone! I hope everyone is having a great summer so far. I just wanted to send a quick e-mail out to everyone to let them know what has been going on and our plans for the fall when everyone returns. If you are on the e-mail list and would like to not receive chapter e-mails anymore let me know so I can take you off.

Meteorology Mentoring Program
We are going to be start a mentoring program to help anyone that would like help with scheduling classes, and help with work. We don't want anyone falling behind. If you would like to be a mentor or would like to be mentored e-mail me and let me know. We are going to set up the program in the late fall or early beginning of the year. So if I have an idea of who wants to help that would be great.

Welcome Weekend Involvement fair
We want to try and bring in a lot of people to our chapter this year with incoming freshman. If you are willing to talk to people and tell them about the program and would like to help out let me know. We want the chapter to continue to grow. It grew quite a bit last year, lets keep it going.

Experience Speakers
We are looking at having people talk about what they have done this summer. With people going to all kinds of places and doing different kinds of research, it would be beneficial to hear what everyone learned over the summer and a little bit about what they did.

Charleston Visit
We are thinking about having a quarterly Charleston NWS visit. If there is enough interest we will go once a quarter.

Welcome Back Cookout
Possible welcome back cookout after the first meeting in the fall to get to know all the new grad students and all the new people within our chapter. Details coming soon.

Okay I want to keep this short. Cause I know a lot of you don't read your e-mail over the summer break! but have a great July. I will send another update in about a month or so!
