-The more networking you do at the student conference, the less overwhelming it might feel at the main conference... you keep running into people you know.
-More geared towards professionals, so there may be things that you don’t understand.
-At the main conference, if you meet a professional they are going to look at you as a potential employee, not a student.

Amendments to the constitution
-Addressed Article IX, Sections 1,2, and 3 and Article X, Section1 at the officer meeting. All active members are allowed to come to the officer meetings where there will be a discussion regarding the constitution.

Canned food drive
-Bring in canned food for those who were affected by Hurricane Sandy.
-Maybe have another canned food drive for Athens at a later date.

Care package
-To troops deployed in Afghanistan.
-Will be sending the package before Xmas.
-More details to come.

AMS conference
-Seth and Connor held a meeting after the chapter meeting for those who are interested in attending the conference.

Doughnut presales
-All presales were due to Michael Outrich by the meeting this evening.
-Doughnuts will be ready for pick up in Scalia first thing Friday, Oct 5th, morning.
-Come early so you can deliver the doughnuts as soon as possible.
-Doughnuts will be separated by order, so look for your sheet (it will be with the amount of doughnuts you sold).
-***Sign up for table shifts! We still have a few time slots open without a volunteer. We must have all spots filled!***
-Contact Michael Outrich or Tom is you would like to sign up to help!
-Sales will be held this Friday, Oct 5th, outside of Baker from 8am-4pm.

Chapter Dues

-Nate’s sister is a middle school teach for the New Hope Church.
-Arranging a field trip for the students to come to OU to tour the lab and wx tower.

-About 30 8th graders.
-Will take them to the wx tower, Scalia, and give a presentation on natural disasters.

Travel Grants/ AMS Assistantships

-MUST be an AMS member, not just chapter member.
-If an AMS member, you can apply for both.
-Assistantship deadline: Oct 12th
-Travel Grant Deadline: Oct 14th
-Assistantships offered to sophomores and up
-Assist in presentation set-up, tech stuff, audio/recording talks, etc.
-Whole week.
-Covers hotel, and conference fees, with food stipend.
-Travel grants offered to Seniors and grad-students.

-Michael gave the prices depending on how much we would be selling.

Wx Challenge
-Forms due this Friday, Sept 21 to Dr. Fogt.
-$5 for the entire year, $3 for half the year

AMS Student Assistant Program
-Have to be students members of the AMS, not just the OU chapter.
-Talk to Dr. Fogt if interested
-Deadline is Oct 12.
-This is for underclassmen who might be interested in helping at AMS.
-Seth and Connor will be sending out an email about the meeting shortly to take care of transportation and flights.

Peer Mentoring Program
-To provide support and encouragement for the met students.
-Like Big/ Little program
-Mentees will pick their mentors- first come first serve.
-Mentees need to have their choices in to Michele by Friday Sept 28.
-By Oct 2 every will have a mentee/mentor
-Plan fun things or get dinner, talk, etc.
-Might have a group outing to get food or something.
-Mentors gave an introduction.

-Homecoming is Oct 13th.
-Parade at 10 am.

Doughnut sale for Homecoming
-Michael Outrich will be coordinating the sale
-Will have the sale the Friday, the week before Homecoming
-Will hold pre-sales
-~ $6 a box of a dozen
-Ask people in the dorm, in your class, your professors, Chubb Hall, uptown businesses, etc.
-Need to have the money up front!
